Amazon wants to take on Fitbit and Apple with its new fitness tracker and service. The new Halo View even reminds us of Fitbit's Charge trackers. Amazon equips the Halo View with an AMOLED display but decides to forego the always-listening microphone. So, the emotion detecting feature is dropped from the band but still lives in the app.

The Halo View gets a seven-day battery life, and it takes 90 minutes to charge fully. It will retail for US$80 and will ship in time for the holidays.

Aside from the new hardware, Amazon introduces a new Halo Fitness service, which you can liken to Fitbit Premium and Apple Fitness+. The service will be free for the first year for those who buy the new Halo View, and then it'll cost US$4 per month after that.

It will offer Amazon's composition scanning, activity points system, Alexa integration, and sleep analysis. Amazon plans to introduce guided workout videos for activities like cardio, strength, conditioning, and yoga by the end of the year.

In 2022, the Halo Fitness service will get nutrition content, including meal planning guides and recipes from companies like Lifesum, Weight Watchers, and Amazon's Whole Foods.
