In case you missed the newest update on Netflix's hit show Squid Game, we are here to let you know that the violent South Korean survival drama will be coming back. Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed that there would be a new season. He was asked about it during Netflix's fourth-quarter 2021 earnings interview. He replied, "Absolutely. The Squid Game universe has just begun."

He classifies the series as one of the burgeoning franchises of Netflix with growth potential beyond the streaming service, offering opportunities through live experiences, merchandise, and games.

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that the hit show will be coming back, with lead actor Lee Jung-jae returning as his character Seong Gi-hun.

"There's been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!" Hwang told the AP last fall. "But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently."

Squid Game is Netflix's biggest-ever TV show. According to its calculation, Netflix subscribers worldwide streamed 1.65 billion hours of the show in its first 28 days.
