Google has officially taken the wraps off the Pixel Watch, its first entry in the smartwatch space. The company has already made the device available for pre-order. The Bluetooth/Wi-Fi option costs $450, while the 4G LTE option retails for $530.
As previewed earlier this year, the Pixel Watch sported a domed, circular glass design with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 5 paired with a stainless steel housing. The watch is water-resistant up to 5 ATM, allowing it to withstand pressure equal to a depth of 50 metres. This watch features an always-on display, allowing you to see the time even when you're not interacting with it. But that should impact battery life, which is expected to last up to 24 hours on a single charge.
The Pixel Watch runs on Google's Wear OS 3.5 software and gets Fitbit features like activity data, heart rate monitoring, exercise shortcuts, and Fitbit metrics like Active Zone Minutes. Your data will live in the Fitbit app, but Google says it'll still support Google Fit.
According to the company, the Pixel Watch offers its most accurate heart rate tracking yet, boasting it surpasses what Fitbit devices offer. It will also take blood oxygen saturation and get fall detection in the future.
The Google Pixel Watch comes in four finishes: matte black with an obsidian active band, polished silver with a charcoal active band, polished silver with a chalk active band, or champagne gold with a hazel active band. Google offers over 20 band options you can use with this smartwatch. There are around 18 different customizable watch faces you can choose from with this watch.
