I'm feeling the pressures of the holidays. Meeting deadlines, last minute urgent projects (why are they always so last minute?!), along with all the other pressures that come with the holiday season even in "hybrid" mode. You know? Like showing up to gatherings with co-workers, friends, and family. Then, there's the shopping. But we all know that we need to take time for ourselves.
At somepoint we just need to shut it all down. But if you're like me and really go top speed until you are forced to stop then here's a nifty gadget to make it all go away, temporarily at least. Heineken Canada has a unique "Closer" device that will give you all the excuses to step away from your computer.
Heineken Canada has partnered with entrepreneur and TV personality Michele Romanow to introduce this innovative bottle opener that shuts down work applications as users opens bottle of beer.
In a recent survey conducted by Heineken on working Canadians and the impact of the "hustle" culture -- a mentality that glorifies overworking, found that the generation of Canadians in the early stages of their careers feel its impact most strongly. Almost half (46%) of survey respondents said they cancel or reschedule plans due to work during the holiday season, and nearly 40% said they work more to make up for their time off by logging into email, messaging apps and other work related prgrogams through the holiday season.
The new Heineken campaign serves as a reminder to Canadians to disconnect from work and reconnect with their own well-being, friends and family.
How does it work? I gave a test to see.
First, you'll need to pair it to your computer. The device is on sleep mode when you first receive it. To activate it, simply use it to open up a bottle of beer. Then pair it via Bluetooth to your computer. What happens next is fun. When you crack open bottle of Heineken the device automatically shuts down your work productivity apps. Then you tell your boss that you've got network issues and walk away. Bye bye work...hello, me time!
But don't sweat it like I did when I was testing this out LOL -- you can turn everything back on by disconnecting the device on Bluetooth. PHEW!
So, how can you get a hold of one? Canadians have a chance to get their hands on their own Closer device via Heineken Canada on Instagram by tagging a friend who needs a reminder to switch off. The campaign ends on December 16, 2022. Of course, you must be legal drinking age in your province to enter.
