The Samsung Galaxy S22 series has just launched. And, of course, the top information you'd want to know is how much they are and when you can get your hands on them.
Pre-orders kick off today and will retail beginning February 25 at Samsung.com/ca, Samsung Experience Stores, and through major carrier and retail partners in the country. The variants available are:
Galaxy S22 Ultra
Galaxy S22+
Galaxy S22
You can get the Galaxy S22 Ultra in Phantom Black, White, Green, and Burgundy, while the S22+ and S22 come in Phantom Black, White, Green, and Pink Gold. There are also Samsung.com/ca exclusive colour options in Gray, Light Blue, and Red for the Ultra and Gray, Cream, Light Blue, and Violet for the S22+ and S22. The 1TB option is available exclusively on Samsung's site for $2,209.99. You can check out more pre-order and trade-in promos here for the Galaxy S22 Ultra and here for the Galaxy S22+ and S22.
As you may have seen in the leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra carries over what its predecessor has done and brings the S Pen into the Galaxy S series. But this time, it gets a slot for the stylus, meaning you don't need a case to stow away the S Pen.
This handset also looks different from the other S22 models. It adopts a look and shape reminiscent of the Galaxy Note series. Samsung opted to integrate the camera lenses into the body, with these lenses protruding just a bit from the metal frame. Meanwhile, the S22 and S22 Plus carry on the contour-cut design of their predecessors. The Galaxy S22 series are all protected by an Armor Aluminum frame, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, and IP68 rating.
As for their displays, the Galaxy S22 Ultra gets a 6.8-inch screen, the Galaxy S22+ has a 6.6-inch screen, and the Galaxy S22 has a 6.1-inch display. All have Dynamic AMOLED 2x adaptive screens with 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,750 nits for the S22+ and S22 Ultra and 1,300 nits for the base S22. Samsung introduces its Vision Booster tech, which it says intelligently adjusts brightness depending on the time of day.
When it comes to the camera setup, this is what you get from the phones:
Camera features include improved night photography with the help of bigger sensors paired with a Super Clear Glass lens that captures more light while reducing glare. You can expect more stable videos and better Portrait Mode. The Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with 100x zoom, while the Galaxy S22+ and S22 get up to 30x zoom.
Samsung talks about equipping the phones with its latest 4nm processor, but it doesn't go into much detail about the chipset. In Canada, the phones are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The Galaxy S22 Ultra gets up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the other two get 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra's battery is 5,000mAh with 45W wired and 15W wireless charging support. The Galaxy S22+ gets a slightly smaller 4,500mAh battery, but it gets 45W wired and 15W wireless charging support. Meanwhile, the base model has a 3,700mAh battery with 25W wired fast-charging and 15W wireless charging support.
