Sony refines its subscription offerings with the launch of PlayStation Plus's additional tiers, which combine existing offerings: PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. This new service includes access to multiplayer gaming and a catalogue of select PlayStation games you can install or stream.
The PlayStation Plus Essential subscription costs US$9.99 (around CA$12.50 converted) monthly or US$59.99 (~CA$75) yearly. It gets the same PlayStation Plus benefits that exist today (like online multiplayer access, two monthly downloadable games, cloud storage for saved games, and discounts). The price will stay the same.
The PlayStation Plus Extra is a new tier that includes all the Essential benefits and adds up to 400 PS4 or PS5 games. Games are downloadable, and this tier costs US$14.99 (~CA$19) per month or US$99.99 (~CA$125) a year.
And then the PlayStation Plus Premium gets 340 additional titles, including some PS3 games via cloud streaming. It also accesses a catalogue of classic games available in streaming and download options, including original PS, PS2, and PSP games. There will also be time-limited game trials, so you can test a game before deciding to buy it. This tier costs US$17.99 (~CA$18) per month or US$119.99 (~CA$150) per year.
Titles like Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal are planned to come to this service. But the company won't make upcoming exclusive PlayStation games available on launch day, which is something Microsoft offers to Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
