With high gas prices, you'd want to save fuel. Google launched its "eco-friendly" routing late last month in Canada. It's designed to get you to your destination quickly while optimizing fuel consumption. So, when you search for directions in the app, it'll give you fuel-efficient route options. These will have a leaf symbol beside them.

Google's goal for launching the feature is to help reduce air pollution while helping save money. Google estimates the eco-friendly routing could curb over a million metric tonnes of carbon emissions every year, which it says is equivalent to removing 200,000 internal combustion engine vehicles from the road. According to the company, the most fuel-efficient routes usually include those with constant speeds, less traffic, and few hills.

For electric vehicle drivers, the app can show you charging stations and even see in real-time which chargers are in use.
