Acer
Acer has a couple of new external monitors with what is typically deemed "gimmicky" features. The new SpatialLabs View and View Pro are standalone 15.6-inch 4K monitors with glasses-free stereoscopic 3D technology. Acer has previously included this tech in ConceptD notebooks, but it hasn't brought it to this format yet.
The standard SpatialLabs View is designed for entertainment use, while the Pro is for commercial users. The former gets the SpatialLabs TrueGame portal for playing 3D games. The app gives each of the 50 or so 3D-compatible games a pre-configured profile to help the games feel more immersive. You can expect some of the big titles: Forza Horizon 5, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and God of War.
Aside from games, the monitor has SpatialLabs Go, which can turn any image or video into a 3D image. Designers can use plug-ins to render creations into stereoscopic 3D to make digital versions closer to the actual products. Of course, we don't know how well these will translate into actual use.
But suppose you wanted to find out their other specs. In that case, they have 3,820 x 2,160-pixel resolution, 60Hz refresh rates, internal batteries, and USB and HDMI 2.0 ports. Acer says they can cover 100% of the sRGB colour gamut and reach 323nits of brightness. Unsurprisingly, these monitors weigh 3.3 pounds, significantly heavier than non-3D options. Acer plans to sell these in the summer with a starting price of US$1,099 (around CA$1,409).
