Embracer Group has reportedly moved development of the upcoming Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remakes for the PlayStation 5 and PC from Aspyr Media to a Saber Interactive studio in Eastern Europe. Development on the remake was reportedly paused after a demo of the game was shown to Lucasfilm and Sony. Aspyr, known for its ports of KOTOR and KOTOR II, was being helped by Saber with the development. But a cryptic statement in Embracer's earnings report last week suggested that Saber could be taking over.
“One of the Group’s AAA projects has transitioned to another studio within the Group,” Embracer wrote. “This was done to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title.” In the same report, Embracer said they aren't expecting "any material delays for the title based on this transiton." But the company hasn't revealed any public release dates for the game. It also hasn't responded to a request for comment on these rumours.
