Micro LED display technology is one of the most awaited innovations in the smartwatch world. It has been rumoured for a long time that some of the top devices on the market will adopt it, and new information indicates that it may be closer than we expected. Most of the speculation so far has centred on the Apple Watch series, especially the Apple Watch Ultra. However, a new report suggests that a future Samsung Galaxy Watch may get there first.
The report comes from a reliable tech tipster, Tech_Reve, who shared the news on his X (Twitter) account. He said that Samsung had officially announced that they were looking into using Micro LED for small displays, such as smartwatches. He also said that there was a possibility that Micro LED may be used for a new lineup called "Galaxy Watch Ultra."
The name of that model is not confirmed and seems rather dicey. But it implies a direct rival to the Apple Watch Ultra from the Korean company. If the report is accurate, that could be a significant upgrade for the Samsung smartwatch range. While their regular models are comparable to the Apple ones, they have not yet offered a model that could compete with the Ultra.
Of course, there's no timeline given for such a model to be released. Considering that we have just seen the new watch range from the brand, it is unlikely to be anytime soon. That is also true because of the relative newness of the news itself. This is the first time we have heard anything close to a solid rumour on this spec, suggesting any product may be very early in the development stage.
