Thanks to rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera specs are no longer a mystery. Now, we get to hear more about Samsung's plans to enhance the cameras of its Ultra models until 2026, at least according to the reliable tipster Revegnus.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra, expected to launch in mid-January, will supposedly feature a 50-megapixel periscope camera with 0.7µm pixels, a significant upgrade from the 10-megapixel 1.12µm pixels of the S23 Ultra. This will allow for more details and clarity in zoomed-in shots. Samsung has already hinted that it is developing high-resolution sensors for telephoto cameras.

Meanwhile, the main camera of the S24 Ultra will remain unchanged, but the Galaxy S25 Ultra will bring a significant overhaul in 2025. It will supposedly have a new lens for the main camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera (up from 12-megapixel on the previous models). The most exciting feature, however, will be the variable focal length of the periscope camera, which Samsung hasn't offered before. This will enable the camera to switch between different optical zoom levels without losing quality and use in-sensor zoom only when necessary.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will further improve the main camera sensor, increasing its size from 1/1.3-inch 0.6µm to 1.1-inch 0.7µm, while keeping the resolution at 200-megapixel. This will result in better low-light performance and dynamic range. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ will also reportedly get new sensors, but not as impressive as the Ultra variant. Again, these are all just rumours at this point. But it is exciting to think about what Samsung plans to bring down the pipeline.
