Apple has announced a slew of new features for FaceTime in iOS 17, the latest version of its iPhone operating system. FaceTime users can enjoy more ways to communicate, express themselves, and connect with their loved ones on the big screen. Here are some of the highlights of the new FaceTime features:
- Audio and video messages: If you call someone who is not available, you can now leave them an audio or video message that they can watch or listen to later. You can also send them a text message or a sticker to let them know you called.
- Reactions: FaceTime calls get more lively and interactive with Reactions, which let you add effects such as hearts, balloons, fireworks, laser beams, rain, and more to your video. You can activate Reactions with simple gestures like tapping, swiping, or pinching. Reactions will also be available for third-party video calling apps that use the FaceTime API.
- Apple TV integration: FaceTime now works with Apple TV 4K, allowing you to make and take video calls on the biggest screen in your home. You can start a video call directly from your Apple TV using the Siri Remote or you can hand off a call from your iPhone to your Apple TV using Continuity Camera. You can see your friends and family on your television, while using your iPhone as a microphone and camera. You can also use Center Stage, a feature that automatically adjusts the camera to keep you in focus even as you move around the room.
