Apple is launching a new journaling app on iOS 17. This app helps you reflect and appreciate your life through journaling, a practice that can boost your well-being. It uses on-device machine learning to give personalized suggestions based on your recent activity, such as photos, people, places, workouts, and more. You can easily add these moments to your journal entries, along with photos, audio recordings, and music. You can also set goals and reminders to keep up with your journaling habit.
Apple claims Journal respects your privacy and protects your data with on-device processing, end-to-end encryption, and app locking. No one, not even Apple, can access your journal entries. Developers can also use the new Journaling Suggestions API to integrate journaling suggestions into their apps.
We do hope it gets some control over what information or memories it could pull up because this runs a risk of resurfacing memories you'd rather not talk about or it keeps out those you want to share.
