The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is a great phone for camera lovers, but it has some issues with 8K video recording. Samsung removed the "High bitrate videos" option for 8K videos in the July 2023 update, which improved the video quality by increasing the bitrate. There have been reports on Reddit from users pointing out the change.

Samsung has not commented on this matter. But it might be because some users were experiencing stuttering and jerkiness problems when recording 8K videos with high bitrate. Samsung might be working on a fix and will bring back this feature in a future update, possibly in One UI 6 beta or One UI 5.1.1 update. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

However, 8K video recording is not a very useful feature for most users, as it does not offer much difference from 4K videos in terms of quality and details. It also takes up a lot of storage space and limits the camera options to the main 200-megapixel shooter. Unless you need 8K videos, you might be better off with 4K videos, which you can still record with a high bitrate on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
