Bang & Olufsen has collaborated with another world-renowned artist to reimagine its iconic Beosound A9 speaker. After David Lynch, the Danish audio brand has tapped Grammy Award-winning bassist MonoNeon for a limited-edition design that reflects his unique musical and artistic vision.

MonoNeon is known for his avant-garde playing style and his vibrant wardrobe that often features patchwork, embroidery, and a bright palette. He wanted the speaker to represent chords on canvas, and he achieved that by covering the A9, which already resembles a canvas on an easel, with a trippy floral pattern that has a retro-futuristic vibe.

He also added his name in bold letters, creating a striking contrast with the kaleidoscopic mix of aqua, baby pink, purple, orange, and yellow hues. The result is a playful and eye-catching design that stands out from Lynch’s more subdued and monochrome version, which features reproductions of his “Paris Suite” series of lithographs.

But the speaker is not just a pretty face. It also delivers impressive sound quality and performance. The A9 is equipped with seven custom-built drivers and two tweeters that deliver a full 33Hz to 25kHz frequency range. B&O claims that the speaker delivers clear vocals, crisp instrumentation, deep bass, and enough volume to fill any room.

The speaker is also compatible with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, so you can stream music from the internet using services like Spotify or sync up with other speakers. You can also control the device conveniently via the Bang & Olufsen app or the intuitive touch controls.

The limited-edition MonoNeon cover will retail for about US$570 (around CA$765), while the Beosound A9 will cost you an additional US$3,999 (~CA$5,370). It may seem pricey, but think of it as getting a speaker and a work of art in one.
