Apple isn't throwing in the towel on its "vision-based" products. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports in his Power On newsletter that the company is supposedly working on a pair of smart glasses similar to the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. They are also supposedly working on equipping AirPods with cameras. However, the earliest we could potentially see these products is at least 2027 (if we see them become products at all).
Gurman claims Apple wants to at least salvage some of its multi-billion dollar R&D investment in Apple Vision Pro's visual intelligence. We've seen it used in the iPhone 16's camera control feature, but now the next step is bringing it to smart glasses.
Aside from offering these glasses, Apple is supposedly working on adding cameras to AirPods. It's unclear what their purpose would be, but the company is supposedly experimenting with the form factor for visual intelligence anyway.
