Google is shuffling around its executives as it tries to move more quickly in the artificial intelligence race and deal with several antitrust lawsuits related to its search and ad business. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced in a blog post that Prabhakar Raghavan, the company's search and ads head, will be moving into the role of chief technologist after spending 12 years leading teams across the search company.
Nick Fox will succeed Raghavan as senior vice president of Google's Knowledge and Information division, which includes the company's search ads and commerce products. Fox is a member of Raghavan's leadership team and has been vice president of product and design for Google's Assistant product in recent years.
Meanwhile, Raghavan will continue to report to Pichai and help "provide technical direction and leadership."
Another change in the company involves those working on Google's Gemini app. Pichai announced that the team in charge of the company's direct-to-consumer products will join Google DeepMind under AI head Demis Hassabis.
Meanwhile, the Assistant teams focused on devices and home experiences will shift to the Platforms and Devices unit to centralize its AI-powered home initiatives into one team.
