Philips Hue has officially launched Twilight, its first smart sunrise lamp designed to improve your sleep cycle. This sleek lamp joins a wave of new Hue products, including a budget-friendly light strip, decorative Lightguide bulbs, the Datura ceiling light, and GU10 bulbs. Plus, an update to its Secure system.
Priced at $349.99 in Canada, the Philips Hue Twilight is a premium offering compared to competitors like the Hatch Restore 2 (though it avoids subscription fees).
Notably, this marks Philips Hue's long-awaited entry into the dedicated sunrise lamp market, filling a surprising gap in their smart lighting portfolio. While existing Hue bulbs and lamps offered basic sunset/sunrise simulations, the Twilight boasts features specifically designed for a more peaceful slumber.
This Bluetooth and Zigbee-connected Twilight lamp goes beyond standard bulbs. It features two independently controlled light sources: a primary illumination head and a backlight that paints your wall in calming colours. It can reach 1,380 lumens of brightness, making it a useful bedside lamp.
Standing 13 inches tall and available in black and white, the Philips Hue Twilight also offers physical control with two customizable buttons. Additionally, the Philips Hue app allows for personalized wake-up routines that gradually increase light intensity.
By default, one of the buttons cycles through new light scenes like "Arise" and "Sleepy," while the other triggers a pre-programmed "Sunset Go to Sleep" automation, mimicking a calming sunset. Furthermore, Philips boasts Twilight's industry-low dimming capability of 0.5%, creating an ideal environment for sleep.
