A Samsung executive provided insights into the development of One UI 7.0, revealing that the upcoming Android overlay has been in development for several years. However, they also noted that some features will be exclusive to newer Galaxy devices due to hardware limitations. This means not all One UI 7.0 features will be available on older phones.
A key example is "Now Brief," a context-aware information display. This feature relies on Samsung's on-device Personal Data Engine, which requires a powerful NPU for local processing. Because it's not cloud-based, older devices may lack the necessary hardware to support it. Conversely, the "Circle to Search" feature, which primarily utilizes cloud resources, will be accessible on a broader range of devices.
While the interview highlighted these two features, details on others remain scarce. Samsung is still working on One UI 7.0, and the complete list of device-specific features is yet to be revealed. It remains to be seen which other functionalities might be limited to the latest flagship models.
