Analyst: Apple's iPhone captures 103.6 % of smartphone profits in wake of Samsung Note fiasco

Analysts at BMO Capital Markets estimate that Apple captured 103.6 % of total smartphone industry profits in the wake of Samsung's monumental product recall for its faulty and now discontinued Galaxy Note 7 flagship. Samsung's profits are at 0.9%. BMO says that Apple also took more than 100 % of profits because a majority of vendores (i.e. LG, HTC) recorded losses on theri smartphone divisions this third quarter.

Samsung tried to steal the thunder from Apple's iPhone 7, they rushed their product to market and even bumped up the name to Note 7 (foregoing the Note 6). This backfired completely when Note 7 devices started exploding and causing fires. This propelled Samsung's brand into notoriety to the extent that no Note 7's were allowed on any airlines and the company recalled the product to the tune of $2 billion loss.

Watch: The latest Wonder Woman trailer shows why it might be the best DC movie yet

Let's face it, the DC cinemantic universe hasn't really lived up to all the hype but now, Wonder Woman, whos is the character that many agree saved Batman V. Superman : Dawn of Justice, is getting her own epic movie and thes second trailer above shows that it isn't all superhero action, which is a good thing. We see world war I, the Amazons as well as Chris Pine's Steve Trevor in what seems to be a smart and exciting period adventure. Wonder Woman comes to theatres in June 2017.

New Star Wars: Rogue One trailer sparks intrigue

There's something refreshing about a Star Wars movie that's set in a familiar universe but which doesn't involve any familiar characters of plot-points. Such is the case with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is slated for a December 16 release and which received a longer and more intriguing trailer above.

Aside from a split-second of shot of Darth Vader, most if not all of the characters in this peripheral story are new or have just been alluded to in past films. Rogue One also takes place between Episode III and Episode IV, so it shares the 70's set design and aesthetic of the original Star Wars: A New Hope. Personally, I wasn't too excited about this movie, but the second trailer has me intrigued and I think this movie will surprise a lot of old and new Star Wars fans.

TravelLog: Winsome Whistler makes for a delightful Summer driving destination

Text and Photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

One of the perks of being a journalist is that sometimes you get to travel. In my case, most of my work trips take me to California, New York City, Chicago and the inevitable Las Vegas. It's rare and very special to be sent to a Canadian location, but thanks to GM Canada's various drive programs, I've seen and experienced the best that the Quebec countryside has to offer and was delighted by Victoria, BC's awe-inspiring ecotourism.

Last month GM took various journalists and influencers to Whistler, B.C. to get acquainted with GMC's new line of Sierra vehicles. Arriving at Vancouver airport, I was paired up with 680 News’ Tim Dimopolous, who took the first leg of our 90-minute drive. Tim used to live in Vancouver and gave me a lot of insight on how the city has changed through the years, he also cued me into when I should get ready for some breathtaking sceneries as we weaved out of downtown traffic into the vast and impressive coastal roads.
