Microsoft PowerPoint gets portrait mode on iOS

Source: Microsoft

As with many experiences on mobile these days, Microsoft is bringing the option to create slides in portrait mode when you're using the PowerPoint mobile app. The feature comes to the public beta of the Microsoft Office Insider program (version 2.68 or later) for iPhone and iPad devices.

Microsoft pointed out and acknowledged the "shift towards mobile-first content creation." And it now gives you the flexibility to create presentations in portrait or landscape. The option to change the orientation is accessible through the Design option.

Apple iPadOS 16 gets Oct. 24 release date

Source: Apple

Apple has delayed the release of iPadOS 16 without a definite release date until this announcement. The company will start rolling out the operating system on Monday, October 24. The new iPad and iPad Pro will ship with this latest software. It will come as an update for the base iPads (5th-gen and later), iPad mini (5th-gen and later), iPad Air (3rd-gen and later), and iPad Pro tablets.

The delay was attributed to the buggy Stage Manager implementation, a feature expected to introduce laptop-level multitasking to the iPad. It was initially supposed to be for the M1 iPads, but it is coming to the third- and fourth-generation iPad Pros. One feature that won't be available at launch is the external display support. Apple plans to roll this out through an update later this year. iPadOS 16 will get features like edit or unsend texts in iMessage and a Weather app (finally).

Dyson Link is now the MyDyson app

Dyson has rebranded its Dyson Link app. It is now called the MyDyson app and gets extra features and content for the company's cordless vacuums and hair care products. It's the app you'll use to manage your different Dyson products. There will be how-to videos, user guides, and more for some Dyson products. You can also get 24/7 support, including chat right from the app.

Some Dyson products have more features in the app than others. The hair care products lean more on tutorials, ways to connect with Dyson's community, and a quick way to shop for accessories. Meanwhile, smart home accessories like purifiers, robot vacuums, and lights give you mobile control of these devices. Voice control is compatible with Amazon Alexa in Australia, France, Germany, India, Japan, the UK, and the US.

YouTube Music on the iPad gets Now Playing redesign

It took a while, but YouTube Music on the iPad finally gets YouTube Music's revamped Now Playing design. The cover art is no longer edge-to-edge, but you still get the song/video switcher at the top with the Cast next to the Cast option. The overflow menu is accessible from the top-right corner. It has thumbs up and down options flanking the cover art, song name, and title. At the bottom, you have the controls for playing and pausing the music, back and following buttons, and the shuffle and repeat options.

It doesn't get the Android tablet's two-column design, which can show you the queue next to the controls. 9to5Google noted a bug with the cover art taking up the entire screen when you rotate from the portrait orientation. So, if you're experiencing that, then you know what's happening.
