Samsung debuts mid-range Galaxy Tab A

Samsung’s newest tablet has made its first appearance in Russia. The Galaxy Tab A is a mid-range device said to be occupying the space previously held by the Galaxy Tab 4. It features metal frames (perhaps that’s why it gets the “A” in its name) and runs Android Lollipop 5.0 out of the box. This slate has a 4:3 aspect ratio similar to what the iPad and Nexus 9 have. It will be available in 8- and 9.7-inch display sizes with 1,024 x 768 resolution. It’ll run on a 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 chip with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD support, and a 5-megapixel rear camera. Battery capacity for the 8- and 9.7-inch models are 4,200mAh and 6,000mAh, respectively. These tablets are also LTE-ready. The prices in Russia start at over US$270 for the 8-inch Wi-Fi version and over $430 for the 9.7-inch with LTE.

BlackBerry introduces security-geared tablet

BlackBerry might not have had much luck with the PlayBook tablet. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to stop trying. The brand has teamed up with Samsung and IBM to introduce the SecuTABLET. It’s a modified Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with high-grade security features from SecuSMART, a company acquired by BlackBerry last year.

This is obviously an enterprise-geared device with the features it has. Users are assured security of corporate or even government data, while being able to use it for personal apps and the like. But it comes at a rather high cost though. The tablet will cost around US$2,360. But for corporate use, that high cost might seem like a sound investment, security-wise.

Review: Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Samsung is really focusing on what this tiny sliver of slanted screen can offer. They do include various apps and app add-ons that can make use of the Edge display. This is an innovative feature that's still too new and too insular to be considered as anything more than a gimmick.

Faced by declining sales of its flagship Galaxy S5 as well as mounting competition from Apple, Samsung is trying very hard to innovate in the smartphone space by leveraging its mastery of displays. The answer is the Galaxy Note Edge, which takes the Note 4’s best features, and adds a unique curved edge screen which tapers to the right-hand side of the phone.

Samsung outs new teaser for Galaxy S6

With March 1 fast approaching, Samsung isn’t wasting any time releasing the teaser video for its new flagship, the Galaxy S6. The promo has a female announcer talking about the future with words like: “Tomorrow, metals will flow, beauty will be powerful, borders will disappear, reflections will be free, colors will live, the future will be the present.”

This gives us more hints that the Galaxy S6 will have a metal design and a curved anti-reflective display (as some rumours have suggested). In the video, you can even see the screen curving around the left and right side of the device. We just have to wait a bit more to see exactly what the new Samsung device will look like.
