There will be a black-and-white cut of ‘Logan’

If you loved Logan and want a pure black-and-white experience for it, you can own a piece of that. According to Logan’s director James Mangold, there will be a Blu-ray and DVD release for it. But if you find yourself in the U.S. on May 16^th, then you’ll have a chance to catch the black-and-white version on that one night. Not much has been said yet when it’ll be shown but this version of the film, as Mangold said, had to be “regraded [and] timed shot by shot.”

Suggestion. Hard core B&W loving LOGAN fans should not make any plans on the evening of May 16th.

‘Alien: Covenant’ gets a creepy first trailer

The follow-up to Ridley Scott’s 2012 film Prometheus is set to hit theaters in 2017 and so the first trailer for Alien: Covenant is out and it’s properly scary. The trailer shows what the crew of the Covenant is up against as they stumble upon a new planet. But things aren’t as they seem as someone gets infected by a deadly xenomorph and things just go extremely wrong from there. 

The big names attached to the 20^th Century Fox film include Michael Fassbender, who plays the artificially intelligent David and is the survivor of the Prometheus expedition, James Franco, Katherine Waterston, and Guy Pearce. Alien: Covenant will be hitting the big screen on May 19, 2017.

‘Deadpool 2’ gets new director

Following the departure of Tim Miller from the upcoming Deadpool sequel, rumour was John Wick director David Leitch will be taking the reins. Now, Variety has confirmed that Leitch will be taking Miller’s place after the director dropped out due to creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds. Miller’s exit on October 22 came as a surprise as he had been in the middle of developing the script and was widely expected to return for Deadpool 2.

Most of the creative team, though, is returning for the sequel including screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. But there is no release date yet for the movie. Fox has supposedly also started development work for the third Deadpool movie but nothing has been confirmed about that yet.

The Coen brothers are creating a film on Silk Road and the dark web

If you’ve seen the two-part Wired feature on the dark web called The Rise and Fall of Silk Road, you’ll be a bit familiar with this shady part of the web. And now we’re getting to see this on film courtesy of Ethan and Joel Cohen a.k.a. the Coen brothers. They are working on the script for Fox’s Dark Web. The film tells the tale of the notorious online drug market Silk Road and Ross William Ubricht, the man who run it. A draft of the film is supposedly done but it isn’t specified if the brothers will just revise that or start from scratch. There isn’t any word as well when the movie might be filmed and finished. If things turn out well, we should hear more about the project soon.
