YouTube introduces HDR support for iPhone 12

The new iPhone 12 series of devices are all getting HDR support on the YouTube iOS app. While the video service has offered HDR on iOS since the iPhone X, it needed an update to support the new hardware. You can find out if your new iPhone already supports HDR by heading to the three-dot menu on any video you're watching. HDR options should be listed on videos that support the standard.

Source: OtterBox

If you're looking for iPhone 12 accessories outside of what Apple is offering, then OtterBox is one of the accessory makers to turn to. Not only did they partner with PopSockets to create cases that have PopTops built-in, but there will also be cases compatible with the iPhone 12's MagSafe magnetic charging system. OtterBox will be releasing its MagSafe-compatible Symmetry Series+ cases soon. If you want to check those out, you can head to OtterBox's site.

'League of Legends: Wild Rift' to come to iOS, take advantage of new iPhone 12

There is no official release date yet for League of Legends: Wild Rift. But Riot Games came on during Apple's iPhone 12 event to talk about the title coming to iOS later this year, specifically how it'll take advantage of the new phones. This mobile adaptation of the popular MOBA title arrives when Fortnite is no longer available on iOS due to legal issues between Apple and its developer Epic Games. Perhaps Riot Games and Apple are taking a chance to boost their profiles a bit (whether they need to or not is another conversation).

We don't know yet if Wild Rift will be playable on other iOS devices, but we understand it'll take advantage of the new A14 Bionic chip on the iPhone 12 as well as 5G connectivity for promised "fast speeds." The closed beta of the game is now available for Android, and it's now possible to sign up for the iOS beta.

Apple launches 5G-enabled iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini

Apple held a streaming event today to launch the new iPhones 12. This year brings a refreshed design as well as a smaller variant in the iPhone 12 mini. The big feature is 5G, which has bee available on other devices for over a year. Noteable features for the new iPhones 12 include a squarish design that's reminiscent of the iPhone 5 and the latest iPad Pros and iPad Airs. The notch is still there and doesn's seem to have shrunk much, Apple has also retained the Lightning adapters for power and connectivity, making the iPhone the only product it sells that still does not use the USB-Type C industry standard. Apple is omitting power supplies as well as the EarPods headphones in the new iPhones to ostensibly cut down on e-waste and also to increase their margins.

The new iPhones do feature a new screen technology in the Ceramic Shield front cover. The Apple-designed A14 Bionic, ups performance while the dual-camera system provides new computational photography and video MagSafe, previously a much-missed feature on MacBooks, is now on iPhones  as a high-powered wireless charging and an all-new ecosystem of accessories that easily attach to iPhone.
