Meet the colourful ASUS VU display lineup

Are you looking for a new display that is versatile, colourful, and eco-friendly? If so, you’ll love the new ASUS VU display lineup. These Full HD monitors come in 23.8-inch or 27-inch sizes, with IPS panels, 100Hz refresh rates, and four colour options. They also have a sleek design, a height-adjustable stand, a cable management clip, an HDMI port, and a USB Type-C port with Power Delivery. ASUS offers these displays in soothing colours: Quiet Blue, Green Grey, Astro Beige, and Pink Clay.

But what makes ASUS VU displays stand out is their reduced environmental impact. The company boasts how they use 85% recycled plastic and halogen-free PCBs to make them and 100% recycled paper to package them. They're also aiming to meet the Energy Star 8.0, EPEAT Silver, and TCO Certified standards for energy efficiency, sustainability, and social responsibility. Plus, these displays have a light sensor and an Energy Saving mode to help you save power and money. The ASUS VU displays are designed for everyday computing tasks, casual gaming, and content creation. We don't have pricing yet, and it's unclear if these displays will make it to this side of the world. But we're hoping they do.

ASUS ProArt StudioBook 16 experiments with glasses-free 3D

ASUS is trying its hand at glasses-free 3D on its laptop. It's starting with the new ProArt StudioBook 16 3D OLED. This 16-inch laptop features a 3.2K OLED display that can turn on 3D at a touch of a button. ASUS calls this tech Spatial Vision. It uses eye-tracking and a lenticular lens to deliver two separate images to your eyes. Spatial Vision can let you work on 3D models or watch movies with the same depth as typical 3D screens that need glasses. If you want to use it for gaming, it has a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. We're curious if the 3D effect can extend to this use case.

Of course, this laptop needs powerful specs to run, so ASUS does just that. It runs on Intel's new 13th-gen HX CPUs, NVDIAI's RTX 4000 graphics, up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and 8TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. It also has two user-replaceable slots for memory and storage. ASUS hasn't revealed pricing yet.

Leaked ASUS Zenfone 9 teaser shows side scroll key

If the leaked videos from ASUS are anything to go by, it looks like there are fun, quirky features on its upcoming Zenfone 9 smartphone. The most eye-catching one is turning the side-mounted fingerprint sensor into a sort of touchpad to scroll through content. As The Verge pointed out, ASUS isn't the first to try this method. Some phones use the fingerprint sensor to bring down the notification shade. But we haven't seen one that does this for content. It should come in handy for scrolling through apps like TikTok and Instagram, but we don't know yet where ASUS'll apply it.

The teaser video also shows an unusual backpack mount you can use with the phone. Cameras are supposedly two features that have been "massively upgraded" on the Zenfone 9, with the primary camera featuring a "6-axis hybrid gimbal stabilizer." And to take advantage of it when you're on the move, the leaked video shows a "Smart Backpack Mount" that looks similar to what professional videographers use to carry heavy cameras all day. It's weird, but we're curious to see it.

ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED is a new folding laptop/tablet hybrid

ASUS is also one of those computer manufacturers that like to experiment with unusual form factors. So, its new attempt with a foldable isn't too surprising. The company unveils its first stab at a foldable display with the new ZenBook 17 Fold OLED. It's a 17.3-inch laptop with a foldable OLED screen, making it much easier to fit into smaller bags. 

There are numerous ways to use the laptop, similar to how the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold works. You can use it as a giant tablet and prop it up with a kickstand or fold it sideways at a 90-degree angle to create a small clamshell. When unfolded, its dimensions are around 4:3 for the 17.3-inch screen, and when folded, it's around a 3:2 12.3-inch device. You can also think about it as two 12.5-inch 1,920 x 1,280 screens side by side or one 2,560 x 1,920 display.
