Jony Ive designs unique iPad Pro for charity auction

If owning a truly unique product matters to you, Apple's Senior Head of Design Jony Ive donated a one-of-a-kind iPad Pro to the Phillips auction house to help the London Design Museum raise money for its relocation. The insides of the iPad Pro will remain the same but its looks have been personally designed by Ive. They aren't just auctioning off the bright yellow-backed 12.9-inch model (still made with anodized aluminum), it also comes with a blue leather Smart Cover and an Apple Pencil with a gold band wrapping around the top with an accompanying orange leather case for the stylus (which Apple doesn't even sell). The set is expected to raise between £10,000 to £15,000 (around $18,000 to $27,500).

Ive's had a personal collection with London Design Museum. Before he became a full-time Apple employee, the museum featured a prototype mobile phone he created and he was the first to get the "Designer of the Year" award from the museum back in 2003 for his work on the iMac.

Original Herbie VW Beetle sells for $86,250

Herbie the Love Bug, star of various Disney movies and possibly the most beloved and recognized VW Beetle has just been sold at auction for a $86,250. The particular model is the one used in Herbie Rides Again and Herbie goes to Monte Carlo. While this is an ideal example of a tricked out mid-60's Beetle, it also features modifications for a rear-stunt driver to make the car look like it was a self driving car. What's surprising is that this very same car fetched $55,200 a year ago when it was sold on eBay.
