Google Home now gets CBS All Access support

Google Home has already been a voice-enabled remote control of sorts for Netflix. Now it’s adding that support for CBS All Access and CW TV accounts in the US. The CBS All Access support will be particularly useful when the streaming service makes its way here next year. You can start streaming if you have a Chromecast connected to your TV or a Chromecast-enabled TV and, of course, if you have a subscription to the services. You can link this through the Videos and Photos section in the Google Home app. The feature is rolling out so keep an eye out for it.

CBS All Access is coming to Canada next year

With the changing entertainment landscape, content creators and TV networks need to evolve with it. Even major networks have their own subscription services now. One of these is CBS’s All Access site, which the company started back in 2014 and lets users stream content the day after it airs. Now, CBS is expanding the availability of this service beyond the US and it’s making its way here in the “first half of 2018” with more countries to follow at a later date. The change comes as it supposedly sees rapid subscriber growth in its home country and sees a market for expansion. CBS estimates the service will garner four million subscribers by the end of the year.

As for what the sudden growth can be attributed to, it’s being attributed to the upcoming release of Star Trek: Discovery, which is coming to All Access next month and will be the first Star Trek show in 12 years. And while All Access isn’t going to be available this year, CraveTV has exclusive streaming rights for it here with broadcast on Space. International viewers can access the show on Netflix.
