Facebook Messenger introduces game component with ‘Doodle Draw’

If you’ve played Draw Something before, you’ll be able to play Doodle Draw, an iOS and Android app that works with Messenger. Facebook recently introduced third-party apps into its messaging app and Doodle Draw is one of the over 40 apps available. Basically, you pick one out of three words to draw a picture off on your phone, you then send this to your Facebook friend for them to guess what you drew. If your friend has the app, it’ll take them to the app. If they don’t have the game, they can still see the artwork within Messenger and reply from there.

Facebook launches app to let you add stickers to photos

In case you wanted one more Facebook app, the social network introduced the new Stickered for Messenger app. It will let you add stickers to photos and send them through Messenger. Of course, in time for the holidays there are holiday-themed sticker packs. Some of the holiday-related frames include New Year’s Eve selfies and “Snow globe chat heads.” It is available on Google Play Store and coming soon for iOS.

Hacked screenshots show support for money transfer on Facebook Messenger

Facebook might soon let you transfer money to your loved ones on its standalone messaging app.  Based on hacked screenshots taken by Stanford computer science student Andrew Aude, there is a button to initiate and send money. And you don't have to worry about your News Feed knowing about the transaction since it is kept private.

There will be an in-app pincode you have to enter to make sure the money goes to the intended individual. According to Aude, the feature currently only allows money transfer using a debit card.

Facebook issues statement on Messenger hubbub

Facebook has been getting a lot of flak for its unbundling of messaging with its mobile apps. Now, the company behind the social network has issued a statement to help calm down any fears its users may have about the move. Facebook’s Peter Martinazzi is calling on people to calm down about the entire situation but it doesn’t look like they are apologizing for forcing people to download another Facebook app. You can read the full statement at the link below.

Like most other apps, we request permission to run certain features, such as making calls and sending photos, videos or voice messages. If you want to send a selfie to a friend, the app needs permission to turn on your phone's camera and capture that photo. We don't turn on your camera or microphone when you aren't using the app.
