Twitter will introduce an edit button if you wear masks

Is this a display of Twitter's faith in humanity? Or is this the push some people need? The social network shared in a tweet that it'll bring the much-requested edit button into its service under one condition: people wear masks. Face masks or coverings help stop the spread of COVID-19, but some are still refusing to use them.

Facebook and Instagram are also encouraging users to wear face masks to help stop the spread of the virus alongside a link to learning more information from the US's CDC. Will these reminders be enough? We don't know.

Facebook kills off its TikTok-like Lasso

If you were using the TikTok-clone Lasso, unfortunately, Facebook is killing off the app. Similar to what it has done with Snapchat, Facebook tried taking on TikTok by copying what it offers and hopefully push it out of the market. Lasso also lets you record short clips with music and effects. And while it's available in several countries with several languages it supports, it didn't catch on. That's why July 10 is the last day the app will be around. If you're a Lasso user, it's time to back up those videos you've made.

Facebook tests Face ID, Touch ID lock for Messenger

Similar to what it already implements on WhatsApp, Facebook is testing the capability to lock the Messenger app on iOS using Face ID or Touch ID authentication. You can opt to require authentication every time the app is opened or after some time without use (ranging from one minute to an hour). Facebook is introducing this biometric authentication feature to help secure users' private messages. It's currently available for a small number of Facebook Messenger users, but the company plans to expand its use in the future. It won't say when, so if you don't have it yet, you're going to have to wait.

Facebook on Android preps dark mode, coronavirus tracker

Facebook has been slowly adding a dark mode to its different apps. Its main app on mobile hasn't gotten the feature yet—until these new screenshots show the feature arriving in its Android app, that is.

9to5Google shows screenshots of the yet-to-be-released dark mode on Facebook mobile. You can opt to enable it within the app or adopt your phone's universal dark mode settings. Dark mode on Facebook is a lot greyer than black, but that's still enough to help with lessening its strain on your battery or your eyes when you use it in low-lit areas.
