When Apple released GarageBand for the iPad 2, it was one of those applications that really argued the case that tablets could indeed be used for content creation and not just mere content consumption devices. After all, anyone with enough time and a smidgen of musical inclination could create original music. Now available for the iPhone and for the iPod Touch, GarageBand is a scaled down on-the-go studio for your pocket.

GarageBand Now Available for iPhone and iPod touch Users  

Apple today announced that GarageBand is now available for iPhone and iPod touch users. Garageband started out as a desktop application that allowed the use of loops and intruments for anyone to make music. It was then Introduced earlier this year on iPad, GarageBand uses Apple’s revolutionary Multi-Touch interface to make it easy for anyone to create and record their own songs, even if they’ve never played an instrument before.

“GarageBand on iPad has been a big hit and we think customers will love using it on their iPhone or iPod touch,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The innovative Multi-Touch interface combined with Smart Instruments makes it easy to create great sounding music, even if you’ve never studied music or played an instrument before.”

GarageBand and iMovie for iOS updated

The two iPad apps that defy the, "tablets are only for content consumption, not creation," argument, iMovie for iPad 2, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch (4G) and GarageBand for iPad 2 were updated today with a gamut of improvements in performance and reliability. Hit the jump for the full menu of upgrades.
