The Google Pixel 4 might come in new 'Coral' colour option

If this leak is to be believed, we're getting a more eye-catching colour option for the Pixel 4. Photos circulating on Chinese site Weibo show the Google smartphone in this new orange colourway. It could end up being called Coral if we're to base it off the accompanying text of the leak as well as Google's use of the name for orange products in the past.

Based on the images we've seen, it seems to be a matte application of the colour. And it's in line with what we've seen so far. There have been white and black models, with the white one sporting an orange-accented power button. This "Coral" version seems to have the same orange-coloured power button. It's also a departure from how Google chooses colours for its smartphones. But it might just work for those who want a more pop of colour on their unit.

New Pixel 4 leak spills additional spec details

Even with Google trying to get ahead of the story, that doesn't mean we aren't getting any more leaks about the Pixel 4 phones. The new set of leaks show videos (there's a slightly longer video here), photos, and more information about the devices. The video above shows us a closer look at what could be the Pixel 4. These don't seem to stray from what we know from Google so far, but it's still better to take these with a grain of salt.

The new photos also give us a closer look at the Pixel 4. The one under the cut is said to be the smaller Pixel 4 unit with a white power button, large top bezel for the different sensors housed there, and the screen that shows this device might be running Android 10.

New leak of the Pixel 4 shows the front of the phone

A new leak found "floating around on Telegram" gives us our rumoured first look at the front of Pixel 4. These two photos were shared to Twitter by XDA's Mishaal Rahman. The image seems to be the smaller Pixel 4, but with Google seemingly getting rid of the notch, it might be harder to tell the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL apart. We see a screen with a thin bottom bezel and a top bezel that isn't too tall despite the number of sensors it has. When compared to the Pixel 3, it has a narrow yet slightly taller speaker grill in the middle. You can spot the ambient light/proximity sensor flashing, while the single front-facing camera is next to it. We can't tell yet if it’s a regular or wide-angle lens. We can't make out the face unlock IR camera on the left or the Soli radar chip to the right of center. The face unlock dot projector, second IR camera, and flood illuminator aren't visible in this photo as well.

Google shows off the Pixel 4’s facial recognition and gesture control tech

Google is taking a different approach to the cycle of leaks and speculation and decided to just share what it can. This time around, the company is showing off the Pixel 4’s facial recognition technology and gesture controls. Google’s blog post also shows a tear-away view of the top of the phone, giving us a look at what sensors are accessible at the top of the phone. And there’s a lot as you can see above.

The Project Soli’s radar-based motion sensor does make an appearance, and it helps with explicit gesture support or Motion Sense as Google calls it for actions like skipping songs, snoozing alarms, and silencing phone calls. Let’s hope this provides a smoother experience than what the LG G8 offered. Also, the feature won’t be available in all countries that get the phone. According to Android Police, Google may need individual government regulatory approval for Soli’s radar technology.
