Review: Game of Thrones Season Six Blu-Ray

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The phenomenon that is HBO's Game of Thrones cannot be underestimated. The popularity of the made for cable adaptation of George R. R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice series of novels has, in a way, transcended what the author imagined for his epic sword and sorcery tale of the quest for the Iron Throne. Season six of GOT, now on Blu-Ray, doesn't just bring back all the epic moments of the previous and penultimate season, it does so with a ton of extras as well as a master class dissection of one the most intense battle scenes filmed, the Battle of the Bastards.

Review: HBO's Vinyl Season 1

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Rock and roll, man. Like the first time you heard it. It’s fast, it’s dirty, it smashes you over the head.

                                                                                   - Richie Finestra

Vinyl is one of the most ambitious and heralded projects to make it to HBO. This series, which was recently renewed and then not renewed, brings together the star power of Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger, who are co-producers of this gritty, soulful and  often violent look back at the music industry as it was in 1973 when punk, hip-hop and disco were slowly surfacing in New York City.

‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 trailer heads off into unknown territory

This shall be the first season of Game of Thrones where we are all like Jon Snow and that we know nothing. The show is treading unknown territory as season 6 will be the first season that isn’t following George R.R. Martin’s epic A Song of Ice and Fire series as the author has yet to finish the sixth book, The Winds of Winter. So, whether you’ve read the books or not, we’re all entering new territory when the show premieres on HBO on April 24th. Mimicking the state of the show, we also see a lot of uncertainty and doubt from some headstrong characters in the show in this trailer. Will you be watching the new season?

Introducing 'Sesame Street' on HBO

Back in August, Sesame Workshop struck a deal with HBO to allow them to host the next five seasons of the iconic children's program. Now, we get to see what the new move has done to Sesame Street. We're glad to see it hasn't really changed much. We're having trouble embedding the trailer but you can watch it hereThe trailer does show some big stars like Pharell, Tina Fey, and Jon Hamm celebrating the move. And of course we get a Star Wars skit.

The show will premiere on the service on January 16th with back-to-back, 30-minute episodes. The workshop is also planning more episodes for the year and they're targetting 35 episodes, which will be available on PBS in the US nine months after they air on HBO. Aside from that, the deal includes two new spinoff series and over 150 old Sesame Street episodes.
