iOS 9 to bring high-quality Apple Music audio playback on mobile data

Current Apple Music users who have been complaining how you get higher-quality audio over Wi-Fi than on data are going to get the upgrade they want. In the third beta of iOS 9, users are given the option to select high-quality streaming over cellular connection. It can be seen under the Music options in the Settings app.

Once iOS 9 is unveiled in the fall, users will get that option. However, there are pitfalls to a higher-quality stream, too. You use up more data and battery when you stream. And Apple even warns that playback might not be as smooth as you hope. But if you don’t mind this, then you at least have the option when the mobile operating system update comes out.

iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan Public Beta is available now

Anyone interested in previewing Apple's still unfinished and in-development iOS or Mac OS software can sigh up for the Apple Beta Software Program. This allows early builds of the upcoming OS's which are slated for a Fall release. While access to new features and interface changes are always fun, do consider that there may be some bugs or issues with beta software, the whole point is to use the applications, find the bugs and report back to Apple so they can speed up and improve their development.

As with most beta software, users are advised to back-up their devices and urged to install the beta software on devices they don't depend on for critical work or personal use.

Revamped two-factor authentication coming to iOS 9 and El Capitan

As with previous methods, any device that you sign into using two-factor authentication in iOS 9 or El Capitan becomes a trusted device that can be used to verify identify when signing into other devices or services linked to an Apple ID.

Home Sharing to make a comeback in iOS 9

You might not have noticed that Apple took out Home Sharing from iOS 8.4, probably so you can make full use of Apple Music subscription. But don’t worry, the feature will be coming back in iOS 9. According to Eddy Cue, they are working on bringing it back in the upcoming version of their mobile operating system. Home Sharing lets you share your media library for up to five computers, iOS devices, and Apple TV while in the same network. For now, you’re going to have to make do with Apple Music.
