‘iPhone mini’ tipped for a 2015 debut

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are getting as much praise as they are getting flak for their larger sizes. If rumours are to be believed there will be an iPhone mini coming out next year. And by mini, we mean it’ll return to its 4-inch display size. Cowen & Company’s Apple analyst for research Timoty Arcuri said Apple might release the iPhone 6s next year. This device could combine the iPhone 5s’s dimensions with the new curved-edge design. We can’t verify this information at the moment but if Apple did come out with another smaller-screened device, would you buy it?

Report claims Apple partners with American Express for mobile payments in iPhone 6

Days away from the upcoming Apple event and the rumour mill is abuzz with life. A new report has surfaced saying Apple has reached an agreement with American Express to bring new mobile payment systems for the upcoming iPhone. This is in line with part leaks that have shown the presence of NFC (finally) in the iPhone 6. There are credit card companies that support NFC use for wireless payments and hopefully Apple’s supposed entry into the space might push merchants to support this kind of payment system. We’ll just have to wait a bit more to see if there is any truth to the new rumour.

Report claims production of 5.5-inch iPhone 6, new iPads pushed back to September

Reports have surfaced that the bigger 5.5-inch version of the iPhone will start production at a later date than the 4.7-inch model. The Taiwanese media have been reporting that production for that larger Apple smartphone will start in September, which is reportedly the month when the 4.7-inch will hit stores. Production capacity will also reportedly be limited at first with manufacturing set to increase by 84 percent by the fourth quarter of 2014.

According to the same Taiwanese report, the new iPad mini and iPad Air will also start mass production in September. Not much is known about the next-gen tablets except both might have Apple’s Touch ID sensor. Of course, we all have to take these reports with a grain of salt. But it does give us a timeline of sorts when to expect the newest goodies from Apple.

Is this the new iPhone 4 S?

There's been a lot of talk about white iPhone 4's finally (as in, 10 months after the black iPhone 4 began shipping, finally) making it to market. There are reports of some units appearing in the UK under Vodafone and now a grainy photo from M.I.C Gadget shows a white iPhone 4 with a larger screen. Another image from the same source shows both screen bezels side by side. Could be the real thing or a hastily cobbled-together Photoshop job but until we see an actual white iPhone 4 in stores, expect a lot more speculation on whether Apple will simply give us a colour refresh or release a new model with incremental feature upgrades or availability to new mobile carriers.
