Amazon.com Announces Best-Selling Books of 2012  

Amazon.com announced the top 10 best-selling books of 2012 overall (print and Kindle combined), as well as the top 10 Kids & Teens books. Unexpectedly, “Fifty Shades Freed: Book Three of the Fifty Shades Trilogy” takes the top spot, and thriller “Gone Girl” comes in at number two; “The Mark of Athena (Heroes of Olympus, Book 3)” is the best-selling Kids & Teens book. Amazon releases the Kindle Touch 3G in 175 countries

Amazon's Kindle Touch 3G is now available in Canada for $189 as well as 174 other countries. The Kindle Touch 3G – easy-to-use touch screen and free 3G wireless,  no annual contracts or monthly fees and never pay for or hunt for a Wi-Fi hotspot. The eReader is now available in multiple languages – German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and American and British English.

Google announces eBookstore with 3 million titles for a variety of devices

Google today announced their cloud-based Google eBookstore which starts out with 3 million titles.. Initially available only to US customers, the eBookstore is expected to expand internationally in the coming months. This is a potential solution to the biggest challenge facing eBooks which is fragmentation. Each of the major eBook sellers have their own libraries, closed formats and strict list of devices that can accomodate these titles. The Google initiative's open-to-all approach makes them the most formidable and most open player in this billion dollar marketplace.
