HTC One delayed, now coming by late April

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

I've received word from HTC Canada that the much awaited HTC One smartphones are going to be delayed in North America to around the end of April, a month after the flagship device was expected to come to market. Below is the statement shared by HTC.

Below is a statement from HTC regarding the availability of the HTC One.

HTC has seen unprecedented demand for and interest in the new HTC One, and the care taken to design and build it is evidenced in early reviews. The new HTC One will roll out in the UK, Germany and Taiwan next week and across Europe, North America and most of Asia-Pacific before the end of April. We appreciate our customers’ patience, and believe that once they have the phone in their hands they will agree that it has been worth the wait.

No reason has been given for the delay although some have speculated HTC's difficulty in procuring some of the components for the device. Will the delay dampen customer's desire for the HTC One now that various other flagship Android devices have been announced or does HTC need to do more to appease its customers?

More Samsung Galaxy S IV images and video appear as launch date nears

Samsung leaked the shadowy GS IV image (left) on Twiter while some purported shots of the front and back show a great similarity to the GS IIIBy Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Samsung's done a laudable job keeping the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV under wraps, but four days away from the Galaxy S IV's supposed launch and we have seen some new images of the flagship smartphone.

Samsung flashed a little hint on Twitter today as to what the Galaxy S IV will look like with what looks like familiar beveled rounded corners and a speaker grille that's not unlike the Galaxy S III. Online forum from China Sammy Hub showed off front and rear photos of what it could be the Galaxy S IV. The design is unremarkable, although familiar and in lockstep with the rest of the current batch of Samsung mobile devices.

Above is a video by istevecom on YouTube showing what they claim to be the first hands-on of a Samsung Galaxy SIV (i9502) from China Unicom. The battery, front, side and back of the device can be clearly seen. The demo also goes through various screens and features including the camera for stills and video. The 'Next Big Thing' is Looking very much like last year's "Big Thing," the Galaxy S III.

Nokia expands smartphone line with Lumia 720 and Lumia 520

Nokia is expanding the family with the new Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 smartphones that now join the 920 and 620 model families. Announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Lumia 720 looks like a smaller Lumia 920 and features a 4.3-inch LCD display with a ClearBlack filter that blocks out glare, it has a 6.7 megapixel camera and is targeted to younger users in Asia and Europe where it will be primarily sold. The Lumia 520 is clearly the budget oriented product with a 4-inch screen, a 5 megapixel camera and  the same 1 GHz Snapdragon processor as the Lumia 720. No news of any Canadian availability at this point.
