Microsoft is giving you a new PC if it can’t install Windows 10 on your machine

The free Windows 10 upgrade is nearing its deadline and it looks like Microsoft is pulling all the stops to get the last minute stragglers to upgrade, at least those in Canada and in the U.S. WinBeta reports that Microsoft is taking an in-person approach to getting people to upgrade for free. What you need to do is bring in your old PC into a Microsoft Store and have them upgrade in front of you. If your PC isn’t ready by the end of the day, they’ll give you a free Dell Inspiron 15.

Of course there are conditions to this. The old PC must be capable of running Windows 10, meaning it meets minimum system requirements and you have to check it into the Answer Desk by noon local time for the “bet” with Microsoft to be valid. It’ll run until July 29th or until supplies last. If your machine isn’t compatible, you can recycle it for $150 credit towards a new PC. There’s also $20 off of Office 365 Home when you upgrade to Windows 10. You might also be eligible to win an Xbox One when you upgrade in the store but you have to ask them about this.

Review: Dell XPS 13 (2015)

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

It is the smallest 13-inch Ultrabook in the market and it features an innovative border-free Infinity Display with a miniscule 5.2mm border. Currently the thinnest frame on a notebook. With a slim bezel of less than 2% of the total display,

PC makers have been obsessed with contorting notebooks, creating strange and 'clever' new ways to meld tablets and laptops, as well as Frankensteining 2-in-1 or even 3-in-1 devices. With the XPS 13, Dell has done the exact opposite. It has resumed where the trajectory of subportable notebook design stagnated and pursued the quest to create the ideal Windows ultraportable.

The fundamental problem with many hybrid PCs is that very few have come close to offering the kind of structural reliability and ergonomics that even mediocre notebooks and laptops have to offer.

Microsoft to open 9th retail store in Canada on November 20 at the Eaton Centre

Microsoft is opening its latest flagship store in downtown Toronto on November 20 at the Eaton Centre. Taking over where the old Sony Style store stood for many years, the new Microsoft Store will likely replace the tiny pop-up store that seems to have served as a placeholder for when a bigger, better location was available. This will be the 9th Canadian store and the 109th store in North America.

Part of the celebrations include a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. Hockey superstar Tie Domi will be on hand to play Xbox with lucky visitors. Attendees will also be able to purchase a Dell Venue 8 Pro 32 GB for just $99 or an Xbox 360 for only $99. This offer is limited to one per customer while supplies last.
