Titanfall app turns smartphone into second screen

If you play EA’s Titanfall on the Xbox One, you should have the companion app in your life now. The app is available for free download on Google Play Store and iTunes App Store. It serves as a second screen for the game. You can view a full-sized or interactive mini map on your smartphone and view scoreboard updates in real-time. Other than that, the app provides information on things such as weapons, characters, modes, and controls. It even sends you notifications about the game and anything happening in the Titanfall world.

Details released on upcoming Xbox One March update

The March update for the Microsoft Xbox One is expected to land soon. Ubergizmo reports that a beta tester of the new features talked about the new features Microsoft has included with the update. Some include the ability to disable Kinect hand gestures while watching videos, say a specific value by which to increase or decrease volume via voice command, and support optical audio.

The new update will also debut Twitch video game broadcasting app that will start streaming sessions with just the word “Xbox, Broadcast.” Party Chat will also be turned on by default. And a firmware patch is expected to allow the headset adapter to work well with the controller.

The $499 Microsoft Xbox One set to land in November

Microsoft is making sure its $499 next-gen console comes out in time for Christmas shopping. The Xbox One, coming out in November, was first unveiled last month but more information were given at their E3 press conference held earlier today. Some of the new details include the much welcome transition from Microsoft points to real currency when it comes to in-console purchases and Xbox Live Gold integration with game broadcasting service Twitch.

As exciting as a new console is, we have to remind you that the Xbox One isn’t backwards compatible with your old games. But this is an exciting time to watch for the new Xbox One-exclusive titles. Some of them were introduced at E3, such as Crimson Dragon, Forza Motorsport 5, and Ryse: Son of Rome. They whetted appetites further with a sneak peek of the new Halo coming in 2014.
