OnePlus 10 Pro is finally heading to other markets in March

Source: OnePlus

After its early January, China-exclusive launch, the OnePlus 10 Pro is finally coming to more regions. The company announced at Mobile World Congress 2022 that its latest flagship is coming to the US, Europe, and India "by the end of March." It also reversed its decision to launch the phone in these markets with the unified OS it developed with OPPO. OnePlus confirmed that "global OnePlus devices will continue to run OxygenOS," while their China counterparts will stick to ColorOS.

The OnePlus 10 Pro will launch with OxygenOS 12.1, but it will soon receive the OxygenOS 13 update. OnePlus emphasized that the OxygenOS and ColorOS share a "clean and lightweight" unified OS codebase, but OxygenOS gets a "lighter" stock Android experience to appeal to global users.

Lenovo introduces first ThinkPad running on a Snapdragon chip

Source: Lenovo

One of the newest machines Lenovo introduced at Mobile World Congress is its first ThinkPad laptop running on Qualcomm's latest laptop processor. The ThinkPad X13s is powered by the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chip. It's also designed to be a lightweight, energy-efficient machine. It comes in at just 2.5 pounds with its fanless design, featuring top and bottom panels made from 90 percent recycled magnesium. It has a low-power 400-nit 13.3-inch display, which it says helps to keep the ThinkPad X13s running for up to 28 hours on a single charge.

As a mobile gadget, it ensures you stay connected to a speedy internet connection with support for 5G (both sub-6Hz and mmWave) and Wi-Fi 6E. It also has up to 32GB of RAM, up to 1TB of PCIe storage, and two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports.

Huawei announces half e-reader, half tablet MatePad Paper

Source: Huawei

Huawei's newest tablet is also an e-reader. If you wanted more features than a Kindle, that's what the MatePad Paper offers. It's a 10.3-inch device featuring a greyscale screen with an anti-glare reflective display for low-light use. It can reproduce 256 shades of greyscale to display text, images, and videos. I'm not sure I'd be too excited about black & white videos (unless they're created that way). But it's an option here. It also has 32 levels of backlighting.

For an e-ink device, the MatePad Paper has relatively smaller bezels. Huawei says it can achieve an 86.3 percent screen-to-body ratio but gets a book spine-inspired design to make sure you still have something to hold. The MatePad Paper also supports the Huawei M Pencil, so you can scribble or annotate on documents or books. According to the company, it has refined the sensitivity of the textured screen to 26ms, which might not seem much for newer devices. But it's a notable feature on a matte e-ink surface.

Samsung to host another event at MWC 2022

Source: Samsung

Samsung seems to have a lot to announce this quarter. The company plans to hold another event at this year's Mobile World Congress. It's another entirely virtual event taking place on February 27. You can watch through Samsung's website or its YouTube channel.

You don't have to be a techie to know that Samsung just recently unveiled its newest flagship phones and tablets. And that recently concluded Galaxy Unpacked event typically coincided with MWC. So, it's a bit surprising that the company has another one following up so soon. The first graphic associated with the event only shows the outlines of its products, including Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Watch, and Galaxy Book. Are we getting software-related news? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
