Netflix for Android update improves performance, design

Netflix has started to roll out an update for its Android app to smoothen out the performance and meet design guidelines of the mobile operating system. And according to Android Police, the Netflix works better with Chromecast. What’s missing is the Netflix profiles support. Perhaps we can expect that on the next upgrade from the streaming service.

Survey shows significant increase in Canadian Netflix subscribers

The Canadian user base of Netflix seems to have nearly doubled, according to a survey conducted by the Media Technology Monitor. They have surveyed 2,013 Canadian adults between March 6 and April 14. The results showed that 25 percent of English-speaking Canadians have signed up for Netflix, up from the 13 percent who signed up in the spring of 2012. The highest number of Netflix users in Canada are in western areas of the country, with 40 percent located in Saskatchewan and 31 percent in Alberta. The service is popular with parents with 37 percent of households with kids under 12 are subscribers and there is a subscriber in a third of homes where teens live.

Other results from the report indicate that 84 percent of the respondents watch at least one movie or TV show on Netflix every week. About eight percent of Canadians polled tried the service but didn’t think it was worth their time, 36 percent felt there was a lack of content in the Canadian version of the service, and 28 percent said their use of Netflix didn’t justify the $8 monthly fee.

Netflix introduces Profiles

Like a lot of things in life, different people like different TV shows and movies. Netflix is making it easier for your household to get the most out the streaming service with its new Profiles feature. It is now possible for Netflix members to create separate profiles for different members of your household that is personalized to the viewing habits and favorite shows and genres of each person. 

Each Netflix account can have up to five profiles without additional charge for the basic subscription price. New members can add profiles for each member of their family while signing up, while existing members can add profiles through Netflix’s site or on the Sony PlayStation 3. Profiles can be accessed on most devices that support Netflix, including the Netflix website, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Apple iPad, iPhone, AppleTV, other iOS devices, and most smart TVs.

BB10 gets Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO, 60 + Channels though PlayON

BlackBerry BB10 smartphone users are getting an amazing range of content options on their devices through the PlayON app which offers Netflix Hulu, HBO GO and an additional 60+ channels through streaming.. 

This is huge since it is the first time, BlackBerry 10 customers in the US and Canada can watch content from Hulu, Netflix and HBO GO on their smartphone.
