Toyota recalls an additional 33,264 vehicles in Canada over issues with the frontal airbags. According to the Canadian government, the latest recall by Toyota of its vehicles pushes up the total in the country to 400,214 cars since 2013. Toyota has announced it’s expanding the recall of the defective Takata Corp airbag parts around the world. It’s said that the inflators in these airbags can activate with too much force, which could send potentially deadly metal shards into the passenger compartment. The total recall worldwide so far is at 15,314,000 Toyota cars.

GM to recall 200,000 Saab and Saturn cars for Takata air bag issues

GM is recalling more than 200,000 Saab and Saturn cars in the US and Canada because of air bag inflator issues on their Takata-made air bags. This is just the latest in a series of recalls of Japanese-made faulty Takata air bags.

The latest announcements are part of a widening recall which has seen roughly 500 million vehicles affected by Takata's airbag inflators, which can explode with excessive force, causing metal shrapnel to spray within vehicle compartments.

So far, these inflators have been linked to at least 10 deaths, mainly in the United States, and around 100 injuries.

Apple issues voluntary recall of all Beats Pill XL speakers due to fire safety hazard

Apple, who acquired Beats Audio in 2014, issued a voluntary recall for all Beats Pill XL speakers, including a refund for customers. Apple has found that the battery in the Beats Pill XL may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. The recall does not affect any other Beats or Apple products. The Beats Pill came to market in 2013, before Apple and Beats completed their acquisition.

"Because customer safety is the company’s top priority, Apple is asking customers to stop using their Beats Pill XL speakers. Customers who purchased a Beats Pill XL speaker should visit http://www.apple.com/ca/support/beats-pillxl-recall/ for details about how to return their product to Apple, and how to receive an Apple Store credit or electronic payment of $395," said an Apple statement.
