Leak shows the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in ‘Midnight Black’

The image above shows what the Galaxy Note 8 might look like. Reputable leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) just posted the render of the upcoming Samsung phablet on his Twitter account. And we won’t be surprised if that’s what the final product looks like. Blass has been accurately sharing photos of unannounced devices accurately. As you can see, the silhouette is similar to what we see on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and it comes in what Samsung would call “Midnight Black.” We don’t have a look at what the rear might look like though. So, questions on whether it’ll have a dual camera setup at the back and whether the fingerprint sensor is still in the weird spot beside the camera sensor will have to be answered when the phone launches on August 23rd.

‘Big things’ are in store for us with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 launch

Galaxy S8 (left) Vs Galaxy S8 Plus Vs Galaxy Note 8 (right) | Benjamin Geskin

It looks like Samsung is leaving big crumbs for both the media and tech fans to follow ahead of the official launch of the new Galaxy Note 8. This time they give us clues about how big the phone could be and its general shape. The invite for the August 23rd event comes with the tagline “Do Bigger Things.” Several leaks have said that the new Note device will get a 6.3-inch display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and that seems to be in line with said catchphrase. Similar to the invite for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Samsung shows off a silhouette of the device in the invite. Forbes shows off an extrapolated image with the three devices together and it shows the bigger footprint of the Note 8. It shows the same Infinity Display but with slightly more squared off bezels. What do you think? Are you considering getting the new Note 8?

Samsung might have ‘accidentally’ unveiled Galaxy Note 8

Samsung knows the power of leaks and teasers so it seems to be banking on the hype surrounding the Galaxy Note 8. We can’t quite say this was an accident on their part though. On Samsung’s official Exynos Twitter account, Samsung tweeted a promotional image of the Exynos 8895—the chipset found in the Galaxy S8 and S8+. But the image we see in the tweet isn’t either device. It shows another smartphone with an Infinity Display and even smaller bezels than the aforementioned flagships. It seems to match the leaked renders and schematics that have been showing up for the new Note device. It’s notable also that Samsung hasn’t taken it down yet or addressed the image even as the Twitterverse is in a frenzy because of it.

Samsung rumoured to be releasing the Galaxy Note 8 ahead of iPhone 8

The last time Samsung rushed to release a product before Apple released its iPhone, things didn’t go well. In fact, this rumoured device is the predecessor of said disaster. And it seems Samsung wants to one up the upcoming iPhone with a launch around late August, which The Korean Herald points out is “strategically ahead of the debut of the iPhone in September.” It’s been rumoured that Samsung has started work on the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S9 earlier than scheduled to make sure product safety concerns are addressed. The Note 8, The Herald reports, is expected to have a look similar to the Galaxy S8 but with a dual camera setup at the back of the device.

Right now, these are all just speculation so it’s best to take it all with a grain of salt. As BGR points out, Samsung hasn’t even launched the refurbished Galaxy Note7 devices and it obviously makes more sense that comes out before the next Note device. But we also have to ask, should Samsung carry on using the Note name, even after all it’s been through?
