SourceCode: What to expect from Microsoft's Windows 10 announcement

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

We want to see an exciting flagship device from Microsoft, one that differentiates Windows Phone as a platform and which goes beyond the usual features of Office, OneDrive and Xbox integration which we have had for three years now.

Tomorrow’s Microsoft Windows 10 announcement is an opportunity for the Redmond giant to showcase its key technologies as well as get users excited about its various products, specifically Windows 10.

With Satya Nadella as CEO for over a year now, the grace period for adjustment to new leadership and orientation has elapsed and it is now time to see if the company can unveil anything of substance. Microsoft set to announce more layoffs

The job cuts seem to be integral to new CEO Satya Nadella’s plans for Microsoft. He has already shuffled top management and wants to ensure that Microsoft software makes its way to different devices.

We've seen the writing on the wall, under Nadella Microsoft has become a more altruistic technology giant, one that released their crown jewel, Microsoft Office, to the iPad, the device whose immense popularity threatened to bury the PC as a thing of the past.

Microsoft tipped to release touch-based Office on Android before Windows

Windows users might feel shortchanged by new reports swirling that Microsoft plans to release its redesigned touch-friendly Office suite to Android by the end of 2014 while the Windows version has been pushed back to spring of 2015. This rumour is in line with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's plans to have the company succeed in what he labels as the "post-post-PC era." This means making their services available to other platforms. Nadella has previously hinted that they plan to launch other major apps outside of Windows platform. We will keep you posted for any updates on this subject.
