Sega announces new mini Mega Drive in Japan

We're getting a new entry in the mini-console space. This time, Sega introduces a new miniature Mega Drive (also known as the Sega Genesis). The Mega Drive 2 will have both cartridge games and titles from a Mega CD add-on. This tiny console gets 50 built-in games, including titles like Shining Force CDSonic the Hedgehog CD, and Virtua Racing. The downside to this new product is it's been announced in Japan only, at least for now. It's expected to launch on October 27 for 9,980 yen (around CA$96).

Sega announces more games coming to the Genesis Mini

Sega will be releasing the Genesis Mini retro console on September 19th. It’ll come with 40 games and Sega just announced more titles coming to the console. The latest additions include Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse, World of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Thunder Force 3, Super Fantasy Zone, Shinobi 3, Streets of Rage 2, Earthworm Jim, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Contra: Hard Corps, and Landstalker. The previously announced games include Sonic the Hedgehog, Ecco the Dolphin, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Space Harrier 2, Shining Force, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, ToeJam & Earl, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, and Gunstar Heroes. It’ll retail for US$80 (around CA$110) and come with two full-size controllers.

Amazon Fire TV gets SEGA Classics games

If you’re feeling a bit nostalgic and want to play some classic SEGA games, all you need is an Amazon Fire TV and you’re good to go. Amazon just launched the SEGA Classics bundle, which includes 25 of the most popular games on the SEGA Genesis platform like Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, The Revenge of Shinobi, to name a few. ‘Yakuza 0’ comes to the PC

For the first time ever, SEGA is bringing its Yakuza series to the PC, starting off with Yakuza 0. The game is up on Steam now and brings enhanced features for the PC, including 4K resolution, full controller support, remappable keys, and an unlocked framerate. After this, Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the first game, will be making its way to the PC as well.
