'The Witcher' gets mobile AR game à la 'Pokémon Go'

While you won't be catching monsters with a Poké Ball, an upcoming The Witcher game offers a similar mechanic to the augmented reality-based game Pokémon Go. CD Projekt announced that its mobile game studio Spokko is developing The Witcher: Monster Slayer. The game will also use your location data for gameplay, requiring you to venture outside to find and fight creatures in AR.

Monster Slayer is set before Geralt's time, taking you on a journey towards becoming a Witcher. It has story-driven quests inspired by The Witcher series. And it offers a battle system you've seen in these AR walking games. You'll need to train your character, brew potions and oils, make bombs, and use the right equipment to defeat the monsters. Unfortunately, we don't know yet when the game is coming out, but you can sign up for updates on the game's website.
