CES 2011: HyperMac innovates the external battery segment

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Las Vegas - One of the more innovative solutions for Apple portable users is HyperMac's HyperJuice line of external batteries. They used to sell a solution that came with the MagSafe adapter which could charge and power MacBooks for up to 45 hours. Apple refused to let HyperMac sell the MagSafe solution so the manufacturer had to invent other ways to get their products to work with MacBooks.

Check out the rest of HyperMac's solution below.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Sanho Corporation (North Hall Booth 3806), makers of HyperJuice/HyperMac External Batteries for various Apple products today announce 2 new ways to power the Apple MacBook with the HyperJuice External MacBook Batteries.

First is a 12-15V auto/airline adapter that connects the HyperJuice external battery to the Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter used to power the MacBooks. While this method is straightforward and works for most people, one limitation of the MagSafe Airline Adapter from Apple is that it will power the MacBooks but not recharge the MacBook internal battery, which brings us to the next method.

Next is a modification kit that allows MacBook users to easily make their own HyperJuice compatible MagSafe charging cables from their existing MacBook power adapters. With these modified cables, MacBooks can be powered and recharged with external batteries from HyperJuice.

The DIY (Do-It-Yourself) modification kit is designed to be easy to use and suitable for users of all technical backgrounds. Everything required for the modification is provided. The entire modification process takes around 10 minutes and does not require special skills, tools, soldering or complex wiring. Essentially 2 connectors (1 male, 1 female) is added between the MacBook Power Adapter cable. Users can continue to use their MacBook Power Adapter as normal or disconnect the MagSafe cable from the MacBook Power Adapter and use it with the HyperJuice External Battery to power and recharge their MacBooks

Apple MacBooks today feature integrated, non-user replaceable batteries. Proprietary charging connectors meant that MacBooks can only be officially powered with the MacBook power adapter or MagSafe airline adapter. HyperJuice remains the only viable external battery solution to extend the MacBook's mobile computing time beyond the power grid.

HyperJuice External MacBook Batteries are compatible with all MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. Available in 4 different capacities of 60Wh, 100Wh, 150Wh and 222Wh (compared to 11" MacBook Air battery which is only 35Wh). HyperJuice is capable of powering the MacBook for up to 45 hours - allowing for long haul flights, extended outdoor shoots, expeditions to remote locations or any situation where electricity is simply not an option. When on the road, there is also the HyperJuice car charger which powers the MacBook directly from the automobile cigarette slot.

Users can check the HyperJuice battery level anytime with the built-in 4 level LED battery indicator. HyperJuice battery also comes with a 10W high power USB power port to charge any USB device including the iPad, iPhone separately or simultaneously with the MacBook.

HyperJuice batteries uses the same high-end lithium ion cells that are supplied to the U.S. military. It is rechargeable up to 1000 times and comes with a 1 year warranty. With a great attention to detail, HyperJuice batteries' silver color aluminum housing are color matched to the MacBook. With clean lines, laser engraved logo and all-white accessories completing the Apple look.

The HyperJuice External MacBook Batteries with the modification kit and car charger will be made available later this month after CES at www.HyperJuice.com for $99.95 (car charger), $199.95 (60-watt-hour battery), $299.95 (100Wh), $399.95 (150Wh) and $499.95 (222Wh).
