Norton's Cyber Safety Expo at Yonge and Dundas Square

At the Norton Cyber Safety Expo at Toronto's Yonge and Dundas Square this weekend, visitors will have a chance to interact with the Cybercrime Index - a tool that tracks and warns computer users about daily cybercrime risks around the world, providing information that is timely and actionable. The 2011 Norton Cybercrime Report found that 69 percent of Canadians have fallen victim to cybercrime. That's about 7.3 million Canadians last year resulting in CAD$840 million in direct financial losses and an additional CAD$4.7 billion in time spent resolving the crime. With those staggering numbers, Norton wants to educate Canadians and provide them with the tools needed to protect themselves. 

Visitors can also tour the Stuff Truck and learn how the online criminal marketplace operates, what is for sale, and the latest schemes of cyber thieves. Several security experts will also be on hand in the event tent helping visitors understand different facets of cyber safety including chats for youth, adults and business owners.

Day 3 — Saturday, October 8

Family Day: From 9am-7pm, come check out the Cybercrime Index, the BLK MKT exhibit and pick up some cyber safety tips on a variety of topics, including how to report cybercrime and how to protect yourself and your entire family.
