Motoring: Chrysler, VW and Kia models affected in Transport Canada recall
Transport Canada has released its latest recalls, which may affect vehicles from Chrysler, Kia and Volkswagen. Issues include faulty shift cables and ignition switches.
2006-2008 Kia Magentis
Vehicles affected: 3,198
On certain vehicles, the shift cable may have been installed incorrectly, causing tension on the cable. This could cause the cable to detach from the shifter assembly’s dowel pin, preventing the transmission from being shifted. The shift lever can then be moved into the Park position while the transmission is still in the gear last used before detachment. If the driver leaves the vehicle without engaging the parking brake, the vehicle could roll away. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the shift lever cable bushing.
2010 Chrysler Town & Country
2010 Dodge Grand Caravan
2010 Dodge Journey
Vehicles affected: 41,970
On certain vehicles, the wireless ignition node (ignition switch) may allow the ignition key to inadvertently move from the On position to the Accessory position while driving, causing the engine to shut off. Dealers will replace the wireless ignition node.
2010 Volkswagen Routan
Vehicles affected: 1,044
On certain vehicles, the wireless ignition node (ignition switch) may allow the ignition key to inadvertently move from the On position to the Accessory position while driving, causing the engine to shut off. Dealers will replace the wireless ignition node.
