First Native iPhone App for Doors Open Toronto Released
One of Toronto's most gratifying cultural and historical events is 2011 Door's Open Toronto where Close to 150 buildings of architectural, historic, cultural and/or social significance open their doors to the public. Admission is FREE. This year, there's an app for that and it's pretty sweet.
Grand Tour Toronto: Doors Open Edition combines iPhone interactivity with fresh, unofficial content. FREE iPhone app lets users experience next weekend’s Doors Open Toronto as never before.
All buildings are listed on Google© maps, so users can see what’s nearby. 137 buildings is a lot to take in alphabetically, so Grand Tour Toronto:
Doors Open Edition permits browsing by category or attribute. Looking for buildings featuring Toronto history? Want to know which buildings are allegedly haunted? Now you can find them and add them to a personalized itinerary.
While Grand Tour Guides is in no way affiliated with Doors Open Toronto, each building links to the official listing in the Doors Open Toronto website. Content and itinerary are not dependent on a data connection and each offline listing includes address, opening hours and level of accessibility.
All content is original and anecdotal, including context listings breezing through Toronto's history and architecture. Learn not just what the buildings are, but why you might want to see them. Anecdotes are even included separately for buildings from previous years so you know what you're missing.
Within three days of release, this app had been downloaded in fifteen ountries on three continents! Who would have guessed Doors Open Toronto had such a global reach?
Grand Tour Toronto: Doors Open Edition now in the App Store.
