The Source brings Amazon's Kindle to Canada

The Source announced today that it is the first Canadian retailer to offer consumers a hands-on opportunity to test drive Amazon’s world’s leading eReaders, Kindle and Kindle 3G, prior to purchase. Kindle and Kindle 3G is available at The Source stores across Canada for the economical price of $159.99 and $209.99 respectively.

“Designed with book lovers in mind, the Amazon Kindle – a pioneer in eReading– offers Canadian consumers a slender and sophisticated device for an unparalleled reading experience,” said Bruce Dinan, Executive Vice President of Merchandising at The Source. “With access to over 760,000 ‘Buy Once, Read Everywhere’ books, a Pearl E Ink screen that’s easy on the eyes even in bright sunlight, and a battery life of up to two months, we know our customers are going to be thrilled with Kindle.”

“The Source’s reputation for excellence in customer service makes it the perfect place for Canadian customers to learn about Kindle,” said Mike McKenna, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. “We’re thrilled to be working with The Source to make it easier than ever for our customers to discover and buy Kindle, and with it, have access to a vast selection of the books that people want to read.”

It’s Light - Kindle’s compact size makes it lighter than a paperback and thinner than most magazines. Kindle is an ideal travel companion for readers on the go.

It’s Easy to Read - Featuring a six-inch Pearl E Ink screen, Kindle delivers the clearest text and the sharpest images. Whether on a sunny patio or in a poorly lit room, the Amazon Kindle’s high-contrast screen ensures the best reading experience in any environment.

It’s Wireless - While both models come equipped with built-in WIFI, Canadian consumers can now opt for the Kindle 3G with free, global 3G wireless, without annual contracts or monthly fees. With storage space for up to 3,500 books and enough battery life to last up to two months, Kindle is a real page turner.
